RALPH LAUREN’S “DAY AT THE STABLES:” THE RL GIRLS FALL ’13 RUNWAY SHOW

Imagine a Fall 2013 fashion show, taking place at a fabulous stable, with celebrities and their children watching equestrian inspired looks mixed in with vibrant pops of color. It sounds like a dream but really it was Ralph Lauren RL Girls fashion show for Fall 2013. Wolffer Estate Stables in Sagaponack, NY provided the perfect setting for Ralph Lauren to combine my two favorite things: riding and fashion.

The long runway was through the stable and guests sat on hay bales lined with saddle pads. The show opened with a traditional riding outfit complete with garters and a colorful show ribbon pinned to the jacket.

It featured equestrian looks with jodhpurs, velvet riding helmets, and boots all combined with school blazers which is classic Ralph Lauren. The orange trench coat was a hit that captured the theme for this colorful collection.

The Ralph Lauren designs had plenty of tweed, herringbone, and velvet mixed in with bright color which adds the perfect twist for a modern girls wardrobe.

My favorite looks are timeless velvet blazers with added touches of silk bows or leopard flats.

The red riding coat with the velvet collar and black beret is something that I would love to ride in or wear out with my friends. The Hunter/Jumper world could come alive with these added touches of color!

The closing outfit was a black velvet jacket and purple silk skirt topped off by a top hat and an adorable Burnese Mountain Dog puppy. The collection took my world of riding and wrapped it up in the elegance of silk and velvet fabrics. Ralph Lauren’s “vision” has always been about capturing classic American style which includes the traditions of the equestrian world. My dreams just became a modern day reality thanks to his creative team for producing such a remarkable show.

Afterwards, young guests were treated to Essie manicures, hair braiding stations, and treats from Dylan’s Candy Bar which is Ralph Lauren’s daughter’s company. This event really pulled out all the stops when it comes to what girls like: fashion, horses, spa day, and candy!!! I think Birthday parties have just taken on a “new” theme for this year.

Dashing Details

My Dyer Equestrian show coat is my favorite piece of clothing in my closet. It’s a midnight navy color with a slight polka dot trim at the pocket and a seahorse logo on the sleeve. The coat is made in a cool breathable fabric that has stretch to it which is perfect for jumping.

Dyer Equestrian was started by Erin and LeeAnne. They are both riders who love everything about horses and fashion. They came up with the name Dyer by combining the names of their first horses, Dylan and Ernie. This year at WEF I had the opportunity to meet Erin and LeeAnne. It was exciting to meet my favorite designers and see the Spring Collection!

Their new show coat has a hot pink ultra suede collar that can be worn down when you are in the Hunter ring and when you are done showing you can pop it up to show of your dashing Dyer design. I immediately tried it on and didn’t take it off all day…It’s a great blazer to add to any outfit outside of the  ring. They also added striped belts to the collection that look amazing with my jodhpurs. The designers studio is located inNYC and everything is made in the USA.

The Double Take With Cheval Fashion

Cheval Fashions has designed the perfect kids show shirt for the hot summer months. The crisp white fabric is made of 100% cotton waffle weave a lightweight material that drys fast.

The collar and sleeve have a check pattern that is great to show off after taking off your child’s jacket. It has raspberry stitching down the front and adorable flower buttons.

But the bonus feature is the roll up cuff on the sleeve with the flower closure.  Basically, you get two amazing looks in one shirt! It’s a wonderful unexpected way for your child to cool off and look great around the show grounds. Also, shown in a light blue and orange grid pattern.

Alexa Pessoa’s pop-up shop “Mouse Makes Three” was the place to shop at WEF! Her store was filled with colorful decorations and stylish kids clothes. Yeah, a fun kids store at the show!!!

I picked up a floral top and navy shorts by Milly’s Mini’s.  She had the best selection of Eggy, Splendid, Hatley, and baskets of hair bows. The buzz in The International Club was “Mouse” has a new shipment. I loved meeting Alexa and seeing the adorable pictures of her daughter Sophia (aka Mouse) They are the cutest family!!!
